The Unseen have a street-punk, heavier Minor Threat-style hardcore sound.  Upbeat, 1-2 drumming, 2 & 1/2 chord songs, barks, and throaty growls.  Yeah, we’ve heard it all before (this IS a collection of out-of-print ep’s), but it’s still better than most pop-punk monotony, and it’s better than Fugazi.

Seriously though, while few of these songs stand out from the many mohawked anthem-churners in the past couple of decades, this music is catchy enough that by the end of each two-minute song you’ll be rocking out.  The quantity here (30 songs) makes it a likely candidate for that “generic” raw punk album you’ve been meaning to get.

Toward the second half of the album, most notably in the twenties, they have re-recorded some of the earlier tracks with a vocal style of throaty British influence.  Not a new thing, and yeah, they’re from Boston…whatever, you shouldn’t care-it’s good and the different take on these songs is interesting.

Oi Oi Oi…Hey, at least they’re keeping the faith.  It’s refreshing to hear different organizations of pounding in rapid succession.  While their songs are simple in most respects, The Unseen have alot of heart and seem to put it all into what they do.

All in all, this is great music for getting ready to go out for a good slam in the pit, or just about anything else, but chances are you will forget each song by the time you leave.
